Dortmund

This classic climber is still loved today. The prolific first flush of the Dortmund rose is a sight to see with its large cherry-red single and flat flowers. These are distinguished by a white eyes and playful yellow stamens. The clusters of blooms age from red to a hot pink. You can expect Dortmund to grow between 10′-12′ tall and produce an occasional second flush. Foliage is glossy and dark green, and has been described as “holly-like.” This variety won the Portland Gold Medal in 1971.
