Palatine Fruit And Roses Commitment To Privacy
At Palatine Fruit & Roses, we are committed to respecting the privacy of our customers and Website visitors. For that reason we have taken, and will continue to take, measures to help protect the privacy of personal information held by us.
This Privacy Statement provides you with details regarding: how and why we collect personal information; what we do with that information; the steps that we take to help ensure that access to that information is secure; how you can access personal information pertaining to you; and who you should contact if you have questions and concerns about our policies or practices.
By accessing or using the Website, you consent to the terms of this Privacy Statement. If you do not consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Statement, do not access the Website or provide us with any personal information.
1. When we collect personal information
(a) Automatic collection
We may receive certain information automatically when you interact with our Website, emails, and/or online advertising. This may include information such as the type of Internet browser or computer operating system you are using, your IP address and the domain name of the referring site.
Depending on your browser settings, we may store some information on your computer in the form of a “cookie” or similar file. Cookies are small pieces of data that are stored on your computer to allow us to recognize your computer when you return to the Website. We may also use cookies to deliver content, or to save information (like a password so you do not have to renter it). At your option, you may turn off our cookies using the applicable features contained in your Internet browser; however, doing so you may prevent you from making full use of some or all of the features of the Website.
i) Cookies
Our Website may use cookies to manage logged-in user sessions and authentication, and allow us access to certain analytics.
If you choose to have the site remember your user name and/or password, cookies are used to store that information on your browser, so you don’t have to login to our site every time. Cookies may also be used to store temporary session information (such as when you add a purchase to your cart, cookies are used to keep that item in your cart until you navigate to the checkout page). Cookies can also be used to track how you navigate our site, and to make future navigation easier (i.e. to enable you to navigate back to a previous page by clicking the back button).
Cookies may also be used by us to allow us to track and save information such as how many views a certain page or product has, or how many people visit our website within a certain time frame. This allows us to optimize some of our website functions and gauge interest in certain products and pages. In addition, cookies may be used to process payments, and for fraud and malware detection and prevention.
In all cases, you are able to view, restrict and/or prevent the use of any of the cookies on our site through your own browser. It is important to note that by turning off some or all of the cookies, it may impact your ability to navigate and use our site in a functional manner.
B) Information you provide to us
When you create an account or place and order with Palatine Fruit and Roses, you may provide us with personal information including the following:
- Contact information (e.g. name, address, email, telephone number)
- Financial information (including credit card & billing information)
C) Social Media
We may offer you the opportunity to engage with us through third-party social networking websites, plug-ins and applications. Through these platforms, you may allow us to access information associated with your social media account.
2. How we use personal information
As part of our business operations and for customer service purposes, we collect, store, and use certain personal information of customers who place orders, including contact information such as name, shipping and billing addresses, email address, telephone number, and occasionally notes. Credit Card Information is only used for processing orders, and is not stored on our website or in our system (see “When we share information” below for further details).
We may communicate with you by email or telephone, as required for customer service and/or order confirmation purposes. If you subscribe to a Notification email (i.e. Newsletter, Stock Notifications, etc), you will be able to Unsubscribe immediately, either through our website or with our customer service team. If you request a password reset, your IP address may be included in the reset email.
3. When We Share Personal Information
We use a 3rd Party Payment Processor, Bambora (a registered agent of TD Bank), for processing credit card payments in the safest and most secure manner possible. Credit Card information entered on our website is encrypted and sent directly to Bambora for processing and storage (to facilitate Void, Cancellations, or Refunds if required in the future). A unique customer identifier is sent to us from Bambora, and that identifier, the last 4 digits of your credit card, the expiry date and type of card is all the information we have access to view and store. Any and all transactions must be done through Bambora.
We use credit card information to process orders, but only store the information as noted above. We will never share your information with a third party unless specifically requested by you, or:
- If a law, regulation, search warrant, subpoena or court order legally authorizes or requires us to do so;
- As necessary to our service providers that help us with our business operations (such as processing credit card payments, as outlined above);
- If necessary to protect the safety or security of users of the Website, to detect and prevent fraud or abusive behaviour, or when otherwise required or permitted by law to protect our rights and those of our customers;
- In the event that we sell, transfer or otherwise dispose of the business to an affiliate, successor, assign or other third party entity; or
- With your consent.
Except as set out above, we do not sell, rent, share or disclose the personal information we hold or make our customer list available to others without your consent. Our contractors and third party service providers are contractually obligated to maintain privacy policies that are no less stringent than our own.
4. How we hold personal information
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users who register on our website, we also store the personal information provided in the user profile. Website administrators can view, edit, and delete that information at any time and upon request.
Personal information on inactive accounts is retained for 5 years, and then automatically deleted. Legal requirements may necessitate our retaining some or all of the personal information we hold for a period of time that is longer than we might otherwise hold it.
5. Security Measures
We maintain technological, organizational and physical safeguards in an effort to protect the personal information held by us from unauthorized use, access, disclosure, distribution, loss or alteration. Access to personal information will be restricted to our authorized personnel who require the information in order to perform their duties properly. In addition, access will be limited to only that information that is strictly necessary for the performance of those duties. The same limitations are imposed upon our third party service providers.
6. What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive a copy of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we amend (for accuracy purposes) or erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
If you are not completely satisfied with this Statement or our practices, please be sure to let us know at sales@palatineroses.com.
7. Other information collected
We track and store information regarding the number of people who visit our website, the number of views of specific pages and products, items searched, as well as specific requests for specific rose varieties in order to help us forecast and plan future budding seasons.
8. Third Party Links
Our website may contain links to external websites. This Privacy Statement only applies to personal information that we collect and use on or through the website. We are not responsible or liable for the content or activities of any linked websites, or for the privacy practices of third parties. We strongly recommend that you review a third party’s privacy policy before disclosing any personal information to the third party. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our Website and welcome any feedback you may have about third party websites that are linked through our Website.
9. Modifications to this Policy
We reserve the right to change this Privacy Statement at any time. We will alert you that changes have been made by indicating at the top of the Privacy Statement the date that it was last updated. We encourage you to review our Privacy Statement to make sure that you understand how information that you provide will be used. Any changes that are made to this Privacy Statement will apply to both any personal information that we hold prior to the effective date of the amended Privacy Statement and any personal information that we collect on or after such effective date.
